While in the beginning of 2020 we were touring around the globe to establish new business partnerships, the Corona crisis put a sudden end to our business as usual and hit the industry with uncertainty. Questions were arising such as how we will continue our production regarding new safety regulations? How would our employees deal with home office and the uncertainty that was widely felt in the population? And would we still meet our business goals in the first quarter of 2020? Let’s take a look back at what Corona meant for us at Hirth Engines and how we fortunately were able to overcome those obstacles together.
Overall, Hirth Engines was fast to react to the crisis and restrictions that were enforced in Germany. We were quick to adapt the necessary safety precautions for our staff to carry on with their work and provided the infrastructure to offer flexible working conditions in home office.
Although we had to reduce our production temporarily, we worked hard to continue providing the usual Hirth quality in two-stroke engines for our customers. We acted completely customer focused and arranged virtual meetings to offer full support from Engineering to After Sales.
The motivation of our staff and their quick adaptation of the new ways of work played the leading role in securing our manufacturing quality. Although these times were challenging for our whole company our staff reflected our core value through the crisis: #ThePowerOfHirth
To our great delight, we were also able to secure orders and received a sustained demand by our customers. Therefore, we saw an increase in revenue in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the preceding year and were even able to expand our team and hire new employees during the crisis.
In summary, we are pleased to find that Hirth Engines emerges from the Corona crisis with even more power. We gained a new awareness for the value of qualities like team spirit, flexibility, and the adaption of new technologies which will accompany us on our road to success.
“It was a tough time for the team of Hirth, but with the motivated staff and a wide range of smart ideas including home office, group working in the company and safety installations and devices we where able to protect our team and to secure our supply and delivery chain as well.”
Bruno König, CEO of Hirth Engines
