With the restart of Hirth Engines in 2018 and the new focus of a customer and global market strategy, Hirth had also set the goal to reach and to renew the quality standards. To be a leading role in the development of two-stroke engines with the best customer experience, the renewal of the ISO certification was required to establish the high quality of the within the company and to ensure the customers the best technologies across the range of aviation sectors.

Successful implementation and achievement of ISO 9001
The initialization of the quality certification took place in June 2019, followed by a long and intensive process of audits and improving the quality of the Hirth’s operative work. Not only that there was a lot to learn and to improve, it also showed the strengths and weaknesses anew in the system and processes.
In the certification process Hirth procured a quality management team, to attend and support the whole project until completion. We are very proud of the whole project team who adapted and improved all nonconformities as well as documented evidences of rectifying the findings.
The achievement of the standards EN9100: 2018 and AQAP-2110, which is the NATO equivalent of an ISO9001, does not reflect the improvement of processes and working methods that only correspond to a standard, but shows ourselves the overall quality improvement of our daily work at hirth engines.
Due to the hard work and the significant contribution of our dedicated project team, we can proudly announce the achievement of the ISO 9001 certification in Hirth Engines quality management.

“Hirth’s certification project has shown that the origin of “The Power of Hirth” lies in its highly motivated, professional and customer-oriented workforce. And it is precisely this workforce that leads to the quality that characterizes our Hirth products.
The development of each QMS requires a high degree of flexibility, openness to new ideas and change.
Thanks to our great team spirit, we were able to bring these virtues into play and confirm our goal of continuous improvement with the successful certification as a result. We at Hirth understand this certification as a beginning and not as an end, as the first big building block to continuously develop ourselves and to offer our customers the products and service they deserve, namely the best. “
Marco Palmieri / Quality Manager at Hirth Engines and UMS SKELDAR

“Understanding the requirements of the standard and implementing them in a customer-oriented and company-friendly manner was a challenging but thoroughly exciting task.
We were able to benefit from the many years of experience of our dedicated and professional staff and from the know-how of our parent company UMS Skeldar.
At Hirth, we have decided to consider the standard as a minimum of requirements and many points, such as process-orientation and traceability of articles, have been elaborated in a stronger and more detailed way in order to meet the quality requirements of our customers worldwide.
Ame lia Earhart once said, “The most effective way to do something is to do it.” (By the way, regardless of gender). This sounds simple and the implementation is usually a bit more complex. But we now have a certificate on the wall, which proves that she is right.
The ISO 9001 certification was one of the major milestones on the journey Hirth has taken, since reforming the company in May 2018, which we have now successfully achieved with the help of team spirit and team cooperation.”
